How Is Sales Tax Calculated in DecoGro?
- By default, sales tax will be auto calculated based on shipping zip code. Please not this only works for zip codes in the United States. If you do not want sales tax to be calculated for each order, you can uncheck the box next to Auto Calculate Sales Tax
- You can also define a Default Sales Tax Percentage. If you have Auto Calculate Sales Tax turned off, the Default Sales Tax Percentage will be used when a new order is created. The Default Sales Tax Percentage will also be used for any orders with shipping addresses outside of the United States.
Can I Edit the Sales Tax Percentage Inside of an Order?
Yes, sales tax percentage can be edited inside of any order. You can also turn sales tax on or off for individual line items, fees, and shipping.
Can I Edit Sales Tax for Specific Customers?
Yes, you can edit sales tax for specific customers and make customers tax exempt.
To edit Sales Tax settings for an entire company, go to the company details page for that company, then click on the payment settings tab.
To edit Sales Tax settings for a specific contact within a company, go to the contact details page for that contact, then click on the payment settings tab.
Can I Make All of My Orders Tax Exempt?
If you work only with customers that are tax exempt, you can remove sales tax on all orders by default. To do this, turn off Auto Calculate Sales Tax in your admin settings, and set the Default Sales Tax Rate to 0%. You will still be able to manually adjust Sales Tax within each order.
This is only recommended if all of your customers are tax exempt.
Are Sales Taxes Accurate in DecoGro?
Sales Taxes in DecoGro are only as accurate as the data that is entered by users. DecoGro is not an accounting platform. You should ensure that sales tax data is correctly inputted, and taxes are being charged as required.
DecoGro does not withhold sales tax or file your sales taxes for you.
It is ultimately the responsibility of the business owner to ensure sales taxes are properly calculated and filed.
